I have an ED problem and i went to the doctor. He gave me setraline pills. I went home to check it out and i realised setraline is an antidepressent. However, the side effects are impotence….Im looking to cure my ED but he’s giving me medication which has impotence as a side effect. Can anyone explain?
Answer:
There are a lot of causes for ED, some are physical and some a psychological. If you are young he was probably hesitant to treat you with viagra or something of that nature due to the side effects.
He may be trialling you on an antidepressant as the cause of your symptoms may be anxiety/nervousness.
Just because impotence is listed as a possible side effect doesn’t mean that it will happen to everyone. And the doc is probably prescribing it to you because he’s had other patients who have benefited from it for the same reasons.
I think you should definitely give the sertraline a try. Give it a decent try – at least 2 weeks and if it doesn’t work then go back to your GP to try something else. Different medications effect different people differently so sometimes it takes a couple of tries to find the right medication for you.
